I am a Michigan Resident who was traveling in North Carolina and received a speeding ticket (in a work zone) for 61 in a 45. I understand that I can lose my N.C. driving priveledge for this. I would like to request a PJC if possible. Is this an option for me in this scenario? Thanks in advance for any advice![/SIZE]

I think a PFJ will only help you if you live n NC. NC has a separate points system for insurance. The PFJ only applys to insurance points. $250 will be added to you speeding fine and costs.

Is it a mandatory court appearance? Given the ticket was in a work zone, it would be advisable to consult with an attorney since this will probably save you $$$ in the long run.

I also think the points you receive will be determined by NJ so you need to see what a 61 in a 45 will do there.

NC is very lenient in reducing charges to clear court space, so your ticket will almost assuredly be reduced to 14 over if you appear in court, or hire a lawyer to appear on your behalf (that's right you can pay someone else to appear for you in NC.) Since you are out-of-state you need to find out if that speed will cause problems (DL or insurance) in MI, as NC will report it.
