Driving/speeding laws?

I drove past a speeding camera and I was convinced I drove past it at the correct speed. However when I got about 10 yards past it I realised I was doing about 2 or 3 miles over the speed limit. On the other side of the road was another vehicle driving towards me and went a lot faster than me and as we were side by side the camera flashed in front of me.

My questions are:

1. Was it flashing me or the other vehicle and is there a way the camera could pick them up and claim it was my number plate by mistake as how does a camera ignore one car and scan the other?

2. Is there a way I can check if I have been booked or do I have to wait 2 weeks like other people do? Can I phone the dvla or someone or go on some site and ask them?

Thanks in advance as I am very worried and this is the first time I have been in this situation as I don't want to have points on my licence or go to some crash course when I am a cautious driver who never breaks traffic/driving laws and that's without mentioning the fines, etc.

There is no way anyone can say.
You were there and can't say for sure.

You can always call anyone you want to call.
They may or may not be able to tell you.

If you get a lousy traffic citation, you can always do an online traffic school.
Or,m you can pay a little mor emoney and use DEFERRED ADJUDICATION, if your state offers that plea.

Anyway, you'll know sooner or later, so relax.
You aren't a terrorist or serial rapist.
