I was terminated recently for not having a doctor's appointment approved- I had informed my employer that I had a medical issue that required me to go to the doctor once or twice a week. I have to have IV antibiotics due to an infection and had tried to schedule them in the afternoon, however I had told my employer that I would schedule them in the afternoon if I could wait, but I might have to go in at another time if I was not feeling well. I had been written up for calling in after the start of my shift- our policy at work is to notify my supervisor before the beginning of shift if possible- but before the shift had ended.
So to make a long story short-
I had informed my supervisor and manager about my illness-
I emailed and phoned my supervisor letting them know I had to go to the doctor, my manager told me that since he had not approved my appointment and he didn't feel it was an emergency I was terminated.
Did they have the right to fire me though I informed them of my illness and my need for medical attention? I brought in doctor's notes each time I was out. I had informed them of another doctor's appointment and was sent to my manager's office when I came in as he didn't think I should be out half the day for a doctor's appointment.
