hi, i was wondering if you can help me through this tough situation. I was just terminated yesterday for accused of stealing.
Well, starting with some details, I'm an appetence at a dealership and just recently I been messing up like ordering wrong parts and diagnosing wrongly and the manger wasn't very too happy with my performance.
My employee have told me that the manger has came up to them and told them that they wanted to let me go due to poor performance and they were planning to let me go the following week.
So as the following week appeared, I was ready to be let go but through out the day something was fishy, individuals were being interviewed through the day. As the day goes on, people have told me different reasons why I was getting fired as if the manger couldn't find a better excuse to fired me, first it was poor performance, then one of my co-workers told me that I was up-selling to much work on customers.
As I was getting close to my shift, other co-worker told me that people were getting interview being asked if they seen me stealing objects that don't belong to me. Which did caught me in surprise because I did not expect an excuse like that. The manger called me into his office and brought in other person as his witness and told me "do you know why you're here today?" I replied "I thought because your letting me go due to poor performance" he said "no, the reason is that 2 people have seen you take objects that don't belong to you." And when I asked him objects like what? He never told me a straight answer, and I asked him who said that, he also refused to tell me (which I can understand). He then gave me a letter of termination with reasons why they had to fired me and asking me to leave the property or they will consider it trespassing and police will be called.
The letter only had his signature but no other nor did he ask me to sign any paperwork. My problem now is, will this situation be appeared on my public record? And preventing me from getting another job at a dealership and continue with my career. Cause what it seems to me is, he did not want to fired me for poor performance cause I'm an apprentice we mess up to learn, so he kept finding little reasons to fired me.
So do I take legal action on this situation or do I just start handing out resume and hope they won't see that I was accused of stealing and preventing me from being hired?
Please help me on this, cause I'm stuck on this situation and I need advice, Thanks!

Since he has not filed a police report, you don't have a criminal record; however, when you apply for jobs and give your employer as a reference, they may disclose that you had to be let go because of suspicions of theft and poor performance.

suspicions of theft - does it even matter if they said that 2 different sources have "seen" that i have taken objects that don't belong to me?

They have the witnesses - you don't.
