My job requires 2 hours notice to call in sick. I was supposed to work at 2, so i called at noon. It was something that needed to be done concerning the baby. Now im most likely going to be fired. Do i have any options here?

I'd discuss this in person with your supervisor and/or manager, then HR.

Sometimes, with an apology and a GOOD explanation, exceptions can be made.

Don't give up, until you've tried.

Good luck, be honest, be apologetic, and see what happens.

There is no way for us to know what your employer might do. You called in with 2 hrs. notice - do you believe you might be fired because you weren't sick yourself but it had to do with the baby? Did your employer say you might be terminated - what makes you think you might be? It would be legal to terminate you unless you have a binding employment contract to the contrary.

Could we have a few more details regarding your situation, please.

Do you qualify for intermittent FMLA leave for the arrival of a new child though parents can only take intermittent leave for the arrival of a child if the employer agrees.

He would only qualify for FMLA in this case if it were something regarding his pregnant wife's health AND he had already applied for and been approved for intermittent FMLA. It doesn't sound as if this was to take her to a medical appointment; it sounds more as if he was picking up baby furniture or something on that line (at least the way he has posted it). That would NOT provide him with any job protection.

More information would be extremely helpful, OP.

Agree. I wasn't going to say anything about FMLA at first & then I went back & did. I was thinking if he isn't terminated, that if he needs intermittent FMLA for *parental job protection reasons* in the future which he might or might not (& qualifies & employer allows it), it would be something to consider. It doesn't look like it can apply in his current situation - that's why I didn't say anything originally. (Just thought it might be something he might need in the future.)

My 1st post was answering current question - might have caused some confusion though re even mentioning FMLA.
