I was released from work with the excuse of "I just don't want you working here anymore". Stress and losing sleep were also added to his list of why I had to go...poor excuse at best, but employers don't have to give you a reason for termination. Upon my release, I was asked to sign a release form which largely covered the terms of my release and all monies owed as per Canadian labour laws. This form also stated that upon signing, I have agreed that I had a chance to seek legal advice and agree to the terms of dismissal. Unfortunately I signed. Hindsight, probably not the best action as I believe that I had a wrongful dismissal case here. This is where I need a little clarity ...
Within the "terms" of my release form, signed by my employer as well by me, is a condition that greatly benefits me. An "error" or "typo" was overlooked. Obviously not "proof read" the document states that my employee benefits would end June 30th 2102. I signed the form because of this gift. What's my next course of action? Need a little legal know how on this.
