I am a nursing supervisor in the state of TN and I interviewed a lady for a receptionist position at my clinic. We are looking to hire a warm, receptive, friendly, and helpful person. After interviewing her, I found her to be overbearing, overly opinionated, and a big talker--not suitable for the position. A letter was sent by my company, letting her know that she was no longer being considered for the job, but the woman won't take no for an answer! She reapplied for the same position on line. She continues to call me and comes to the clinic to speak to me when she can't reach me by phone. She has also called and paid a visit to my supervisor. She has threatened to sue my company for age discrimination (she is probably in her early 60s, which would make no difference to me had she been warm, pleasant, and receptive). We found out through our human resource office that she applied for several positions within our company and has not been offered a position by anyone that interviewed her because of her offensive personality. I am concerned for the safety of my staff as well as my own personal safety, from this woman. What legal steps can I take to keep her from harassing my company, my supervisor, my staff, and me?
