I have been joked with about going out with young women. In the past couple of years, the VP who has joked with me in front of others and at management meetings, but has changed the topic to young children. This has been going on for several years. I am 59 and have raised my children as a single parent. What has prompted me this year is a comment my direct boss made to me during my review. I had asked why I had not been promoted this year. His response was 'I need more visability'. Then he made a comment about both VP's do not like it if the others in my group are out and I was in charge, that they would not feel secure with me in charge. At this point I was outraged. I asked about speaking to them to stop this and his response was leave it alone. There was another individual in my group who had the same time as me and was promoted. Also, I have been affraid to say anything for fear of job loss. My reviews have been 3.4 and the top score is 4.0. I feel that maybe without their verbal harrassment maybe I would have been promoted and their perception of me would be different? Do I have a valid claim? Thanks

Not on the basis of what you have posted. There is nothing in your post to suggest that your age, gender or other protected characteristic is the basis for their failure to feel comfortable with you in charge.
