i was working as a store manager for a small business in texas being constantly praised by the owners and customers for the job i was doing and all of sudden last friday morning the two owners came into the store and said that they were firing me. when i asked why i was put off saying don't play stupid so i asked them again what the basis was and i was told because they heard that i was going to make them bankrupt and that i was going to take slow revenge on one of the owners. all of this was untrue and i told them that and asked them to tell me where they heard it and they said they had heard it through the wall of the business next door then they said we will not discuss this with you just get your stuff and get out. then told me i was not to come back. how much of this is legal, would this be considered a wrongful termination?

and i still have not gotten a paycheck, how long after they fire me do they have to pay me all that i was owed?

thanks for any and all help

A wrongful termination does not mean that you were fired for something you did not do. It means that you were fired for a reason prohibited by law.

Since no law prohibits the employer from firing you on suspicion of misconduct, no, this is not a wrongful termination. I do not dispute that it is unfair, if the facts are as you described, but unfair is not the same as illegal.

I'm working from memory here, but my memory says that in Texas they have six days from your last day of work to pay you. I'll confirm that when I get to my source material and will post back if I'm wrong.

thanks so much for that info! i will watch to see if you find a different answer.
i was suspicious that what you are saying would be the case and yes i agree that it is not fair at all.

thanks again!!

I remembered correctly. An employer in Texas who fires an employee has six days to pay that employee their final wages.
