I was fired 15 days ago. I was given 1 month pay and 3 months of insurance in return I need to sign a document that states I release the company of any wrong doing however, I feel I was wrongfully terminated, on the other hand I live in Florida so I do not see that I have much of a recourse.

Should I sign the agreement and get on with my life or should I have a lawyer review it anyway and ask for more money. I feel they know they did something wrong if not they would not have offered me squat.

Please advise.

Certainly you can have an attorney review it. But out of curiousity, what do you think was illegal about your termination?

Thanks for the reply

I appreciate the feedback. This is what happened:

I was terminated because "My Management style didn't fit" after 10 months of employment.

The company was going through many changes so I reported to 4 different people during that time. The last two were terrible.

I went to HR on the first of the two to advise them that I felt I was being treated differently than the rest and that was not given the time and attention as the rest to get thier job done. I stated to HR that I felt a bit discriminated because the rest of the team that reported to her were women and so was she. I was the only male.

Then I was "moved" to report to another person, a new hire, this person was rude, unhelpful and vulger. I again felt uncomfortable for different reasons. She made comments like "I don't want to get caught with my shorts around my ankles" and "we don't want to get caught with out d... in the door". I went to HR again to advise them of this unacceptable behavior. In addition I started to make comments about it with others.

On both occasions HR told me I should work it out with the person. With the first I spoke to and I thought we had an understanding, with the second person I never got a chance becasue for one week I tried to approach her to speak and was always shut down she stated she didn't have time or had a meeting etc. etc. Then I got fired.

What does it sound like?

I'll give you a really weak maybe.

I assume you're claiming gender discrimination?

Thanks again

Gender diecrimination and sexual harrassment. The issue is the HR person is the best friend of the CEO (now I come to find out). It does not look like it will play out for me.

What are your thoughts?

I already told you. Based on what you have posted, I think your case is weak at best. But you are free to discuss it with an attorney and see if he disagrees.
