I work for a union construction company and my wife is the assistant of the guy who hires and fires all employees. If I divorce my wife and suddenly find myself without a job will I have a case? I've had no problems at work. No write ups, discipline, nothing. We do get laid off for the winter months and brought back when the season starts up. There are always people who are let go during that time and the union is never able to help them, but I think my case may be different. Are there any precautions I can take (besides not getting divorced) that can help me? Any other thoughts?

There is nothing in the law that would prohibit them from firing you. Your CBA may prohibit it. But since we have not read your CBA, we can't say.
