Building, condominimium and co-operative issues
The NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) makes building and real property related information available to the public in two primary online databases.

DOB NOW is the NYC DOB's self-service online database and tool to submit applications, make payments, and manage many building-related projects, compliance filings and other related tasks. The four-part DOB NOW system empowers owners, design professionals, licensees, and filing representatives to interact directly with the NYC DOB. The four areas include: Inspections (scheduling, tracking and notifications); Build (job filings for alterations and new buildings); Safety (compliance filings for boiler, elevator, energy and façade); and Licensing (exam filing, issuance, and license renewals.)

The Buildings Information System is a publicly available and searchable database from the NYC DOB used for viewing historical building data. It contains a substantial amount of general and specific information on NYC properties, including block and lot assignments, dates and data concerning complaints, violations, actions, applications, and inspections. A separate database is also available to search for registered Skilled Trades Licensees and General Contractors, and identifying your local community board and being able to find out construction work in your area such as new buildings, demolitions, zoning resolutions, and major and minor work occurring in your area.
