ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Two people, including a teacher for Wells ISD, have been arrested on charges related to possession of child pornography. One of them is also facing a bestiality charge.
According to an affidavit KLTV obtained through an open records request, Angelina County deputies responded early Saturday morning to a call related to a man who was suicidal. The affidavit indicates a man and woman were arguing, and in the course of that argument, the subject of pornographic images involving a child and a dog came up with law enforcement.
Authorities received consent to search the man's cell phone, and found related evidence. The affidavit says the man also reported the two had used cocaine which influenced their choices.
Angelina County Sheriff Tom Selman has confirmed the woman, Hillary Danielle Williams, 33, of Lufkin, is a teacher for Wells ISD.
On Monday, Superintendent Jimmy Friday Wright released a statement saying Wells ISD is aware of the arrest of an employee and has "no information indicating that any of [their] students are directly involved in this situation." He also said the situation is currently under investigation.
Both Williams and the man involved, Michael Scott McCary, 37, of Lufkin, were booked into the Angelina County Jail. Williams faces charges of possession with intention to promote child pornography and bestiality. McCary faces a charge of possession of child pornography. Williams posted $350,000 bond and was released Monday, while McCary remains in jail with bond set at $250,000.
