New boss is requiring background checks and drug tests for already existing employees

"What department you work for" is not a characteristic protected by law. Therefore, a change in policy that affects only one department is not illegal discrimination and is permitted by law. It's really no different than, Sales employees have to wear business suits; Shipping employees can wear...

New boss is requiring background checks and drug tests for already existing employees

I don't know how common it is. It is legal. Alabama law allows random drug testing in the workplace.

pay decrease with no two week notice

I have, in many states other than PA. It's done primarily when there has been a spate of employees leaving without notice and the transition has been rocky because of that. It's not a move I'm in favor of - if you treat your employees right they're much more likely to treat you right. But it's...

pay decrease with no two week notice

PA is very big on "follow your policy". If this has been a consistent policy and the employees know about it, it's unlikely that PA will determine that this is a wage violation. I agree that it would be better if it were in writing, but if they are consistent about it and it is known, it's not a...

pay decrease with no two week notice

As far as I have been able to determine with a quick search, this process is legal in PA as long as you are made aware of it (or should have been made aware of it) beforehand. As an example, if the company handbook states that this will happen, then it's legal.

Fraud, Embezzlement, Bad Checks How to convict someone for welfare fraud

What you CANNOT do, however, is force any given agency to act. ALL you can do is make the report and they will decide if it warrants investigation or further action. if they decide against it, there is no law you can invoke or action you can take that will force them to.

Terminated without cause, unpaid commissions, and shady practices by former employer

I'm good with that. Though I have before seen instances where Employee A was certain that Employee B was either engaging in or the victim of illegal practices and was proven wrong because Employee A did not have all the facts.

Terminated without cause, unpaid commissions, and shady practices by former employer

That is $12k more than the law requires you be paid. There are only three states where severance is ever required by law; Florida is not one of those states; even in the three states where it is sometimes required, it is not required in these circumstances. Florida has very weak wage and hour...

You've got a lot of stuff in here that I don't have time to address right now. I'll be back when I'm off work for the day. If you don't see me respond this evening, remind me.

New manager yelled and grabbed my arm

CAN she be fired for yelling at you and touching your hand? Sure, if that's how management want to handle it. MUST she be fired? No, not by a long shot. Do you have any say in whether she is fired? Nope, you don't get a vote in the matter. What can you do about it? Grow a thicker skin...

Absolutely! I know of someone who thought that being ruler of the free world would be a slam dunk when he had no political experience whatsoever. He found out differently.

    Seeking a post conviction lawyer

Susan, a message board cannot provide specific legal advice or take action on your behalf; this is not a referral board and reputable attorneys do not troll message boards looking for clients. You can get referrals by calling your State Bar Association and/or your local Legal Aide. Additionally...

Power of Attorney- COVID victim, took estate and money?

So the family was involved and all your projections were wrong. I don't think we need any more drama here. Next time you want to convince someone of your sincerity, you might want to consider actually making the reports that are suggested to you instead of holding back for your own interests.

The owner has provided the mods with the authority to act for him. Another thing this forum is not, is a soapbox for you to spout your views. Move along, folks, nothing to see here.

Mod here: This is not a debate site. I would like to politely request that you either ask a legal question, or move on. Thank you.
