Calling in sick when out of PTO

It is entirely up to the employer. Unless protected under a state, Federal, or municipal law, time off (paid or unpaid) is not a legal issue but a matter between employer and employee

    17- year-old seeking name change

And honestly? I don't mean this nastily, I really don't. But it probably won't do Sonny any harm to learn that you can't always get what you want right when you want it, and that having a challenge to obtain something really important can make it much more meaningful when you eventually get it...

    Divorce and Unemployment Claim Payouts

Only way I can think of that she'd be eligible for a new claim would be if, during the period of unemployment, she worked some temporary and part time jobs that gave her enough for a second claim. If that's the case, I can promise you that her new benefit isn't $700 a week or anything like it.

Pre-Tax Flex Spending Acct & Hospital Bill

It would be unusual if the OOP Maximum did NOT include the co-insurance. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it would be an exception to the general rule. You'll probably find that there is a separate OOP maximum for in- and out-of-network facilities.

Slandered in Court Resulting in Harassment Order

Since you say in the very first post that you already have a lawyer, and since you shot whatever credibility you may otherwise have had by claiming three different states in two different boards, and also since you cannot obtain alternate representation on a message board and you don't seem...

Then by all means stop wasting time on the internet and go hire one.

    Former Employer Filed an Appeal

No, I agree. I'm just responding to the blanket statement that you can't collect UI while going to school.

Slandered in Court Resulting in Harassment Order

A point for future reference: when you are asked the state at the beginning of your post (and this applies to both boards), we don't care diddly where you are now. We only care what state's laws are going to affect the answers. All 50 states are different.

Slandered in Court Resulting in Harassment Order

OP = Original Poster You, in other words. So if it's happening in Massachusetts, why did you say on the other board that it was happening in California? And why did you say in the original post, that it was happening in Michigan?

    Is this legally binding?

Not having seen it, I can't say if it's legally binding or not. But this I can tell you. It is not a notary's stamp and seal that makes a document enforceable. A notary's stamp and seal confirms that the signatories have been confirmed to be the people they claim to be. If the document is...

    Former Employer Filed an Appeal

I agree that you cannot quit to go back to school and expect to get UI. However, my state has a program for unemployed folks who cannot find work in their field. Under this program, they can retrain for a new field. It has to be an approved program of study and you have to be accepted into the...

Pre-Tax Flex Spending Acct & Hospital Bill

I don't think anyone has suggested that you did anything wrong, or that you're trying to get out of paying what you owe. Quite the opposite; we're trying to help you find ways NOT to lose the $1500 in your FSA account. Some of what you posted made me wonder if you fully understood how it works...

Question about rights in the workplace and outside

In what way are YOUR religious beliefs being discriminated against? They don't HAVE to allow any religious statements at all. You're not being discriminated against if they prohibit ALL faiths from posting, only if they allow some but not others.

Pre-Tax Flex Spending Acct & Hospital Bill

FYI, I administer FSA and health insurance plans for a living. This may seem obvious but if you have $1500 in your 2021 FSA, then $1500 is all you can apply to your 2021 bills is $1500. You can apply it to the hospital bill, to the doctor's bill, the radiologist's bill, or whatever other...

Medical Malpractice Failure to properly diagnose actionable?

Medicine is not an exact science and every individual human body reacts differently. A lot of times, diagnosing is a matter of ruling things out, not in. If you want to pursue this, your father would have to have his medical records reviewed by a malpractice attorney, whose experts would have to...

Pre-Tax Flex Spending Acct & Hospital Bill

Okay, thank you. FSA's are highly regulated by law, and a lot of the restrictions on them are set by law rather than your employer. Not all of them, but many. Do you have an idea how much money you'll end up owing the hospital? Just a rough estimate will do.

Pre-Tax Flex Spending Acct & Hospital Bill

How do you submit your flexible spending claims? Do you submit receipts on a claim form, or do you have a debit card? i understand that you have 90 days to submit your claims. Does your employer offer a two and a half month grace period (you can incur claims for 2021 up till March 15, 2022)...

Question about rights in the workplace and outside

No media outlook owes you a platform. There is a very big difference between an employer not being able to fire you because of your religious beliefs, and news outlet being required to allow you to air your views. You might have noticed that even some very high level politicians have had their...
