    Spouse Insurance

Concur; even liberal Massachusetts does not consider a separation to be a qualified life event to add or drop dependents to a health plan. It would only be possible during the Open Enrollment period. And the odds are very, very good that once the divorce is final she would have to be dropped...

Can you take someone to court with no contact orders in place?

The problem is that this is a US website; the law in the US and the law in the UK are not the same, and no one here knows UK law.

Life Insurance Claim & Medical Records

No one said otherwise. But if he is looking for a payout prior to the death certificate being amended, which is how I read the question, he's going to have to provide something else. Maybe I misread what he is looking for and if so, I apologize. But a life insurance policy simply cannot pay out...

Life Insurance Claim & Medical Records

Which is why I said what I did. Whether it's the medical records, the death certificate, an obituary, or something else, the claim is not going to get paid as long as the OP refuses to submit any documentation. He's going to have to give them SOMETHING if he wants them to pay, and they're on...

Life Insurance Claim & Medical Records

I'm so sorry for your loss. That's heartbreaking. I have to tell you, though, I've been working with life insurance for upwards of 40 years in varying capacities and I have yet to see a claim approved when they were not provided with a copy of the death certificate. The medical records may be...

    Money owed after firing

The instructor is not even entirely correct in NY. Unless something has changed very, very recently, no state requires the payout of sick time at termination. NY definitely does not. As far as vacation goes, in NY vacation time does have to be paid out at termination - unless there is a written...

Fraud, Embezzlement, Bad Checks uni homework - writing a court order

We can't be of much help either way since UK law and US law is not necessarily the same.

What to do about illegal cyberstalking?

The information you get back is only as good as the information you provide.

What to do about illegal cyberstalking?

Actually, no I'm not missing the point. I quite understand that you are looking for the means by which you can force the police to investigate. But the answer still remains, you don't. There is no action you can take and no law you can invoke that will force the police to investigate. It's...

What to do about illegal cyberstalking?

You don't. They, not you, determine how their limited resources get utilized.

What to do about illegal cyberstalking?

You do not get to decide what "punishment" he receives. That's not your call. All you get to do is report it to the police. There is nothing in the law that entitles you to determine what happens to him.

Employer is stating voluntarily quit, but I was laid off

The unemployment office takes it for granted that either of the parties might be lying. You want to tell the truth exactly as it happened; do not give in to the (understandable) temptation to bad-mouth the employer. A former poster here used to say that often the decision by the UI office is in...

    written termination

There is a very small handful of states where, upon the employee's WRITTEN request and usually within a very short time window, the employer is required to provide a "service letter" which provides, among other things, the dates of employment and the reason for the termination. Arizona is not...

    retaliation pretext

No, again not on the facts you have provided. Complaining that the manager isn't following policy isn't a right protected by law; therefore firing you for complaining about it is not illegal retaliation.

    written termination

No, there is no such requirement in Arizona.

    Strike

The fact remains that you do not have a right to a bail reduction.

And what makes you think the judge has an obligation to reduce your bail, strike or no strike?

Told not to use my cane

Duane, what I would do at this stage is go to YOUR employer, not the client company but the one who provides your paycheck, and ask them what the reason is. My answer will be different if it's "safety issues" than if it's "we don't like the way it looks". There are liability issues here.
