Liability for willed shares to closed Corportation

You were willed shares in a corporation that no longer exists? I can't imagine you would be liable for anything. If you are worried, you could always disclaim the inheritance.

    Co-signed student loan

Depends on the exact terms of the loan, but you would most likely be liable. The lender's first recourse would be against his estate. Assuming it couldn't pay, you would be next in line. Have the loan insured, that way they won't come after you.

    Widows Allowance

I don't believe so - the spousal allowance as I understand it is supposed to be interim support until they receive their inheritance (or in case the will doesn't adequately provide for them). Check with a local lawyer to be sure.

    spouse family allowance

The family allowance is paid for their maintenance while the estate is still in probate. I would expect they are entitled to receive their inheritance when the estate is settled.

    Attorney Fees vs. Trustee Fees

I don't fully understand what it is he's billing for. He's entitled to be paid by the trust for work he's doing for the trustee on behalf of the trust. If the trustee resigned, why is he contesting? What new info, who is he emailing and what about? $35,000 is probably ridiculous, and if...

Corporate Law Release of e-mail lists by non-profit

I am not expert in California law. As I read the Code, it says nothing about email addresses. Unless there is judicial consideration of the statute requiring you to provide email addresses, I would say you are under no obligation to do so. Nor do I see anything about your duty to provide...

    Attorney Fees vs. Trustee Fees

He's entitled to bill whatever his rate is. My question is, if the trustee quit, what work is his attorney doing for the trust?

    The Wager I Want...

That poses a wee problem when seeking legal advice - you are likely to get more constructive answers if you didn't. Just a thought. Good luck to you.

Unable to locate original will, only a copy

I am sure there is. Originals go missing all the time. Ask the attorney who drew up the will. Most keep originals, and if this one did not, he will know how to have a copy filed with the court. Likely you'll need to make an application to court to have a copy certified by the court as true.

Company claims they're NOT responsible for my theft while in their possession

Amtrak isn't going to be liable for the camera, which is the big ticket item. At the most, you're out a few hours time for dealing with this. It's not worth fighting over, and you're unlikely to succeed. Not sure what kind of disclosure policy you're looking for nor how this impacts your...

    Contact with Judge's Assistant

Doesn't matter if the JA is difficult to deal with, it's your attorney's job to deal with them. That's why you hired an attorney. As jharris said, if you want a different date, instruct your attorney to apply for one whether the JA is helpful or not.

Selling a House Without a Contract

I think bankers are not lawyers. If DW wants legal advice on how to draw up a contract and sell a property, they should talk to a lawyer. If they want advice on how to make money, which may or may not be good legal advice, they should talk to their banker.

    Questions about Disclosure statment

If the statement said you had a working chimney and central A/C, and you didn't, and it can be shown that they weren't in working condition when the house was sold, you might have something. Whether you'll succeed is anyone's guess. It's certainly worth talking to the lawyer about. FWIW, I...

Naturalization, Citizenship im confused on what i am

Yeah, sounds like you're a Canadian citizen. Having a birth certificate issued by a Canadian province is enough. Wikipedia tells me someone may be a US citizen if they were born after 1986 and all of the following are true: 1. One of the person's parents was a U.S. citizen when the...

Consumer Law, Warranties Rights of lesse

Depending on the original terms of the "lease" and the nature of this product at issue, I may respectfully disagree with Moose. A party can't just go unilaterally changing contractual obligations in midstream. Sooo... When you say the lessee "paid in full for the use with a verbal terminus"...

    conservator malpractice

I'd suggest you talk to a lawyer first. They'll be able to tell you whether you have a case and would be able to direct the forensic accountant. This might be professional malpractice, with a 2 year limitation date. The period would probably start to run from when the conservator was...

Naturalization, Citizenship im confused on what i am

What were your parents doing in Canada? Had they moved here intending to live here permanently when you were born? If so, and assuming you were born after 1977, you probably acquired Canadian citizenship at birth and are still a Canadian citizen. You might also be a US citizen - I don't...

It's a scam. You won't get arrested for it, but you could lose your shirt. Ignore any future emails of this sort.

CA superior court civil suit question

Geez, I didn't even read the substance of your original post that closely - I though it was a procedural question. I don't know if you have no case, if your action is a nullity because it is founded on an illegal act - that is an area of law that varies by jurisdiction. Many have enacted laws...

I only want whats fair ?

Court and mediation with who - your former lawyer, his wife, or both? You need to think about what you're asking for and from whom, and on what grounds. Your former lawyer's wife didn't breach your attorney/client privilege - your former lawyer (arguably) did by not keeping your file secure...
