You should never "volunteer" to do anything. Some Urine tests have a fairly high false-positive rate, especially considering how often you have to take them. An attorney would definately help. They could hopefully either get you a warning, or extend your probation, or add on community service...

I don't know enough about your situation in regards to the second MIP to give you much advice. Is this in East Lansing by any chance? 2nd MIP you might be looking at a probation that makes you take random/daily breath tests, etc. MIP was a civil infraction a while ago, unfortunately...

I would think the ability to make restitution will come into play. I know of a woman who did something similiar with embezzlement, was convicted of a felony, but got 5 years probation plus a HUGE amount of community service.

On the sentencing thread, the boyfriend has high anxiety and his girlfriend has been lying, so it's understandable. Also, the prosecutor might be playing hardball with such an "easy" case, so there may be a trial just because there may be nothing to lose for the defendant. In my opinion. . .
