Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft 2nd retail theft in 10 years

Hi, I had taken a game from walmart about 10 years ago and did a diversion program. it was under $100.

Just recently a cop called me and asked to come in and accept a citation for a $3 beer I took on camera from a convenience store exactly 7 months ago.

$300 ticket, court next month.

What is my best course of action when I go to the judge?
I dont want to make it worse by pleading not guilty but I'm in the $2,500 or less theft range which seems ridiculous when it was so long ago and only $3 tops.

ask judge directly for deferred adjudication with guilty plea? or not guilty and ask for public defender?

Do not just walk-in and plead guilty that is foolish. Consult an Attorney see if Diversion is even available since you already used that option once. In addition if court becomes aware of first offense its possible you could be charged with second offense and face jail! Do not do anything on your own talk to a Lawyer
