Hello,
I was recently caught up in an investigation of several employees at the electronics retail store I work for. While the focus of the investigation was to find out who was taking large items (laptops, ipods, etc.), I admitted having stolen a cumulative $77 worth of merchandise, to which they replied that they would further investigate my actions at work to see if there were any additional items stolen and that if there were I would be in much more trouble. In my interview I wrote a statement admitting what I did, that I did not have permission to leave with the merchandise and that I had not purchased it in the first place. As stated in the title I am from Texas and am worrying about what I can expect. Civil Demand, Criminal trial maybe? Im very anxious.. I'm 18, have a 4.0 in college so far, and just got accepted to a University outside the US. If I ended up with a record of any kind my scholarships and work in life thus far would be down the drain... any advice????

Until you are actually charged there isnt much we can do to advise you. Do not answer any more questions and do not sign anymore admissions of guilt! It might be wise to consult an Attorney as well. Depending on the circumstances of the case and what final charge is we cant say if Diversion is option or if your charge is a felony!
