Accused of stealing

If anyone can advise please reply. My job involves maintenance work in council houses all over my local area. On a dailey basis I carry out repairs in 5 10 different houses and have done for 8 years. I have just founf out a council tennant has accused me of stealing thousands of pounds from her bedroom a few weeks ago. Saying I am the only person to have entered her bedroom in a period of 4 days when she says the money went missing. I am in utter shock. I am financially sucure and have never stolen anything in my life. I remember visiting the house and there were 4 other people in the house I was there about 20 minute's I never noticed any money completed the job and left after 20 minutes. Where do I stand now apparently the police are coming to interview me as the only suspect? My employer have just said they will leave it to the police.

Since you mention pounds instead of dollars I assume you are in the UK.

This is primarily a US site and the laws in the UK can be very different. It's possible that someone will come by who knows the answer to your question but it's not likely. You would do better to consult a local attorney.

I'm not yelling at you or anything; you didn't know. I just didn't want you standing by waiting for an answer when none was going to be forthcoming.
