in march of this year me and another coworker filed a sexual harrisment claim against an asset manager in our company. we followed the policy and went to HR and we were assured that it will be taken very seriously. well with in 3 months we had lost our jobs, and he is still employed. we are now being accused of stealing money from that employer. our last date of employment was july 17th. corporate office called me at home and told me that I'm being term for breaking comp policy, and leaving the office unattended. 1 week later I was called by corp office and accused of stealing $4000.00 from the company. they told me that they were going to the police to file charges. I have no problem with that because I never took any money from them. that is the last thing I have ever heard from anyone. I am hearing all sorts of rumours coming from a former co worker who is still employed by them, but no one from the police department has ever called or come to see me. at this point it has been 2 months since I was let go. I'm a little freaked out because I'm trying to find another job. is there something I should be doing? I'm scared

No I did not, They had been trying to get rid of the both of us since we had filed the claim. to be honest I'm glad I'm no longer there they are a very shadey company and have had many a suits filed against them for wrongful termination

The best thing for you to do is shut up. You have the right to remain silent. If you're smart, that is smart.

If contacted by the police give only your name, address, date of birth, and ask for a lawyer. Then STFU completely. They'll try to bait you, trick you, enrage you; just keep asking for a lawyer, or ask to call your own lawyer.

If that day ever comes, speak to a lawyer in the interim. Tomorrow (or Monday) would be soon enough.

After that, just STFU!!!!

Silence is your friend. Don't even speak to the other person about your plans. He/she might have set you up. Trust no one, but yourself and your lawyer!

I have no problem saying nothing but why is it taking so long to even contact me?? wouldn't they want to know what I have to say?

They might just be making idle threats?

They might have NOTHING on you?

Your "friend" could be GUILTY, and is trying to implicate YOU?

See, all my answers are questions!

I'm just guessing.

No one can tell you why someone else does something, or doesn't do something!!!

But, as long as NOTHING is happening to you, there is no need for YOU to worry, fret, or fuss!
