I have a 4 1/2 year old son (Mikey) with a man who never seen my child but has paid child support maybe 2 1/2 years out of the almost 5 years. The father has left state to avoid the back support from being taken from his taxes. He owes over $5,000. Heres what i want and hope to get your legal advice about, My boyfriend (Dale) has been with me since my son was 5 months old and we have a daughter together my son has always thought Dale is his dad. Mikey has my last name and is getting ready to start school in August and wants his last name to be Barker which is Dale's last name. We aren't married but plan to one day. Dale and I have decussed Dale adopting Mikey. Can we do this without being married?
