My former employer is threatening to turn me into county attorney and press forgery charges for signing his name to business checks. Often he would call into office and have me write a check and sign his name to it. His business party with another entity also trusted me to do this. I as the manager overpaid clients and contractors out of pure ignorance and sloppy work and signed his name. I never received any benefit from doing this nor did I ever write any checks to myself. It was just very poor job performance on my part. Now former employer is wanting money compensation not to turn all checks into county attorney. Should I try to settle with him or let him and press charges? Thanks

You might want to do a free consultation with a criminal lawyer first. I would say it is better to settle with the help of a lawyer who can make sure it is done correctly so he does not turn and sue you later. You don't want charges filed. Even if you win the case, expunging records is not very effective with the hundreds of private data bases online. Don't risk it…..Try to settle. The case could go either way.
