worried mother

My daughter 18, was charged with aggravated child molestation. She has a history of mental illness and a psychological evaluation determined that she comprehend s things on a 14 year old level. She was taken to the sheriff's department by some one pretending to be me and advised to talk to a detective where she gave a full confession. The female victim was 11 at the time. My daughter was allowed to spend a week with her (without my knowledge) and then the grandmother brought her to my house to stay the night. Where they both lied to me and said she was 16. Can anyone please give me any advice as to what to expect? Please she has a public defender that barely talks to me and upon our first meeting informed that she could get life in prison...

Your story has many, many holes. That is why none of us are required to say one word in our defense.

That thing about your right to silence, (yes, I said YOUR) is very helpful.

That stuff about mental illness, not going to be so helpful.

So, YOU as an adult allowed your 18 old daughter to have sex with what you thought was a 16 year old CHILD in your home?

If the child were 17, not a very smart idea to allow children to commit sexual acts in your home.

Not very smart, mom.

Remember that stuff I wrote just above about NOT TALKING, understand BETTER why I said that now?

Can anyone please give me any advice as to what to expect? Please she has a public defender that barely talks to me and upon our first meeting informed that she could get life in prison...

Your daughter is facing some serious legal jeopardy.

Nothing you have said helps her.

Most things you have said could get you in legal jeopardy, too.

At this point, I suggest you stop talking, stop asking, shut up, and wait.

This could get very, very nasty!

Let her lawyer represent her.

Your curiosity could put a very large target on your back.

In fact, it already might be too late for you.

Stop talking, stop asking, stay as low as you can off of anyone's radar.

It is for your daughter's protection that the PD will not speak to you. Anything SHE tells him is protected. That protection is broken if you are included.
