I allegedly rung up items and delete some items to make it seem like they were buying full price. I did this for about 4 weeks, they said. They asked me if I should be prosecuted, and I said yes, it's what I deserve. But then the LP guy said that I wont be prosecuted. This confused be, because I thought they prosecuted all theft. I was terminated and escorted out of the store. I was not arrested. I did have to wright a statement saying that I rung up items and deleted them to make it look like they were paying full price, and who all was involved, my brother and my sister and various other customers, if they didn't have enough money or looked like they were poor. They said I would get a phone call in a couple days, but I'm not sure what it will be about. If anyone can help me, that would be great, I'm very worried. I've never been arrested or anything like that. There was also no cop present, i don't know if that makes a difference or not.

If the phone call comes you are not there. If they send you anything in the mail take it to a local attorney for advice.
They are going to want you to pay them. You do not have to, but if you do it will be the end of it.

I am a retail theft consultant and talk to people like you daily. They probably did not have anything on you and you provided that with your statement. had you denied everything and refused there would be no phone call and if they did fire you it wouldn't be for theft. Now you are at risk not to get any UI benefits due to your admission. Do not answer any more questions and make no further statements on this issue to anyone other than your Lawyer

You were very lucky.
You made a few bad choices.
You seem sincerely sorry now.
I think you'll do better in the future.
I'm pulling for you, because you helped people who needed help.
They'll call you and offer you a way out, if you pay them about 500 bucks.
Listen to their pitch, if you decide that's the right thing to do.
Either way, you're only obliged to follow a judge's order.
No judge will order you to pay a debt.
A judge simply says Buddy owes Bubba $600.
If Bubba wants the $600 he has to figure out how to LEGALLY collect it from Buddy.
Trust me, that's impossible to do 95% of the time.
God luck to you.
