So... here's the story....

I worked for a cleaning company cleaning a school building three days a week. It was a solo gig, my boss was sub-contracted under a specific company, whom the school hired.

Long story short, in my last couple weeks (as I had a part time second job offering a promotion which required me to quit the cleaning job), with good intention of getting my school cleaned and up-to-par for whomever was to clean after my last day, I had brought a friend with me to help. He was like a brother to me and I trusted him. (Mind you, I did not have permission to have him in the building).

As it turns out... he may have potentially broken into the medicine cabinet and stolen some type(s) of medication(s) belonging to the one (or some) of the students (it is a school for the kids who have issues and can't go to normal public elementary schools).

They have him on camera cleaning the school with me, it is unclear to me about any kind of evidence or proof available thay he is responsible, but the chances are looking good that he is. They filed a police report and I am included in it. My ex-boss is saing he doesn't know what is going to happen, but they may be holding our pay pending investigation. I have never stolen anything from the school in the entire two years I have worked there, any evidence they potentially have is going to point the finger at him. However, I illegally allowed him into the building, so they are saying I may be just as liable.... an accessory?

My question: if it is proven that he is the one who did such horrible things, where do I stand and could I go to jail? They are saying it is a felony charge if he is guilty and that I could be an accessory? I was completely UNAWARE of him breaking into anything.

You'll have to wait to learn your fate, mate.
Guessing, wondering, speculating, isn't productive.
You can only take definitive action when you know what you're facing.
Right now, that's nothing.
So, you simply do nothing, say nothing, especially about this sordid bit of business.

If the police do call, you simply INVOKE.

Don't try explaining, or talking your way out of it. You'll only end up talking yourself deeper into it.

So, you lose your job.
You still have your life and your freedom.
You can learn from this, start culling people who aren't your friend.

This video addresses what to do, if the FIT hits the SHAN.
If no FIT hits the SHAND, and you're fired, the video's message still applies.

An accessory after the fact crime typically requires that the accessory have had knowledge that the criminal defendant committed the crime and intentionally helped them avoid capture or punishment. With an "after the fact" charge the police aren't alleging that you helped your friend commit the crime. The police are alleging that you helped conceal the evidence of the crime to avoid your friend being caught and charged with the crime. My guess is that they would try to charge you with one or the other, although it will be a very difficult case for them to make. As advised, you're best not cooperating without the assistance of a criminal defense lawyer who will be best able to make whatever deal or agreement that may result - which might just be a simple dismissal of all charges against you. I'm sorry to hear about losing your job but I guess that was to be expected given the unexpected theft. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice... I had actually quit the job and worked my last day, which is when I asume my *friend* did all this. Still has been no update. I haven't received any phone calls from the police, when I did speak on the phone to both my boss and my boss's boss, I gave both of them my *friend's* name and complied. I will not go down for his wrong-doings with out a fight, ams he most certainly is no friend of mine any longer.

I am just worried because I allowed him in the school with me.

If they had any type of proof or concerns that I was responsible they probably would have already beem in contact with me by now, right? My mom told me that and it made me feel slightly better......

Maybe.
It wasn't murder, terrorism, or rape.
The cops have plenty of fish to fry.
If the cops do come knocking, it might take some.
No need to worry about it, what's done has been done.
If I were you, I'd keep living my life and never speak about this to anyone.
