here's my dilemma my friend he works for a retail store...i went shopping there....he told me he will give me a discount(i trusted him)...anyways a wk ago he got arrested for grand theft for those merchandize. his actually bail out now...supposedly they were actually after me too :? ..but my friend admitted that i don't know anything :(

now my question can i get involved w/that even i have a receipt proven that i came there just to shop and it's not my fault if he gave me that discount....i found out that he scan my merchandize and deleted it again for me not to get charge for it..(i don't know that)..the mgmt accused him for stealing $700...$700????? i don't think all that merchandize cost that much plus i payed part of it.

anyways i payed using my credit card...can they run after me even i'm innocent :(

i'm planning to go back there to pay it. but i'm scared to death. i never had any record..never :(

my friend he will have court nxt mth...what gonna happen to him?? this his 1st offense..he doesn't have any record too.

Can they pursue charges on you? Yes they can. What they will need to prove is if you had knowledge your friend was discounting merchandise for you. You have already answered yes to that here. However until you are actually charged you can relax. If you are charged or asked to come in for questioning answer no questions without an Attorney present!

what are the felony charges??? any ideas.....will he go back in jail?? or he will get a fine, and some community service....

A felony conviction could mean prison. I suspect they might offer him a deal especially if he rats you out as knowing
can he do that even i'm totally innocent :( :? ????

i was thinking of that too cz about few days ago he was asking me for some help (money). actually i help him get bailed out cz i really feel bad for him. but for goodness sake its not my fault :? so he cannot really depend on me on his financial crisis now. but it seems that he really wanna blame me for not really helping him...and lately his been avoiding my contact and that's making me wonder if he will lie if they offer him something.

how can i proof that i'm really innocent if ever he will lie??

he told them he doesn't know me...can he still change his statement what he told them went he got arrested?

should i hire a lawyer now or wait until what he will tell them on his hearing??

The proof against you is the texts! He offers you discounts and you accept! In this case theres enough there to suggst you knew what was going on and nothing that says you dont! You can wait until charged to hire a Lawyer or you can meet with some now, many offer free consultations. Much depends on DA does he want you? If so then h emight cut a deal with your friend he he turns on you. Do not discuss this anymore with him. If he contacts you about it save those contacts but say nothing. Just tell him you were advised not to dicuss the matter for time being.

What state did this happen in? Different states have different laws

i already contacted a lawyer. he advise me to call him if they show on my door and question me..and don't say nothing :dunno: can they take me to jail?? or should i ask them to show me a warrant of arrest?? and that's the only time i should go w/them?? right?? without it..they cannot force me to come w/them right??

If they feel they have enough for an arrest yes they can take you to jail. That doesnt change anything. Answer no questions and when given your call, call your Lawyer

How are you innocent? You accepted merchandise discounted illegally. You're just as much a thief as he is.

i trusted him. he told me his always employee of the month. why if u go to the store and the cashier offer a discount will u take that opportunity or forget about it?? come on at this time of life all people will take all the discount, coupon or etc to save money. how will i know that his doing illegal?? lesson learn never trust no one.....

O maybe your naive. If a cashier offered me a discount I would be cautious as cashiers do not have the authority to issue such discounts. Furthermore its not on a customer by customer basis its everyone or no one

No, not ALL people would take it. HONEST people wouldn't.

You knew what was going on and now you're playing stupid.

Have fun in court playing stupid, the Judge will see through your lie in about 2 seconds, all your "I thought it was leagal" excuse will do is piss him off.
