My divorce and child support documents were all filed in the state of Georgia. I have since moved to Alabama. I have an open child support case with DHR in Alabama to help collect back child support. If my ex-husband files to modify his child support with an added claim that he does not owe back support, will I have to travel to Georgia to go to court? Will DHR here in Alabama handle this or will I have to hire an attorney in Georgia?

If any party wants to modify the terms of a judgment in a lawsuit, it must be done in the court where the lawsuit was heard.

I think that GA is probably going to retain juridiction as long as Dad still lives there.

The father has hired an attorney in Alabama and filed petitions to change jurisdiction from his state (the original state) to Alabama. Can he do this? Will it be dismissed here?

Q: The father has hired an attorney in Alabama and filed petitions to change jurisdiction from his state (the original state) to Alabama. Can he do this?

A: Sounds like he already has.

Q: Will it be dismissed here?

A: No one knows the answer to that. But if you and the kid are in Alabama, I doubt that it will get dismissed.
