another hearing roadblock

So after over 5 weeks of waiting to get the ok from the Magistrate to schedule a hearing to review the CFI report filed on October 1st, (which says the kids should be with me) we finally got three dates for a 2hr hearing. My attorney calls the Ex's attorney so he can pick one of the dates and her attorney says no way 2 hours is not enough, he wanted two full days in court. My attorney talked him down to 1 full day in court but thinks even that is ridiculous. The only thing he will be doing is cross examining the CFI and a couple of the interviewees, how does that take a full day in court with the Magistrate? My attorney called the clerk a almost a week ago to try and get the new dates for a full day hearing but it took 1.5 weeks for them to get back to us last time for a two hour hearing with dates in the end of December, could be a longer wait for a full day and we won't get in until January, February, or...?

Does any of this sound unusual or is this the norm for a custody hearing to review a CFI report in family court? If it does seem abnormal, any ideas?

Thanks Again, in advance.
Bill

This seems - unfortunately - somewhat par for the course.

Sadly Bill, these things can take a long time to inch through the red tape and the "system".

I know it's hard, but all you can do is try to be patient.

Thanks Proserpina.

I have a curiosity question that maybe you can help with. My attorney was unsure about this but; Do Magistrates even hear full day cases or would the case be moved up to the judge? The attorney seemed to think they didn't and we would be moved but he wasn't sure. Do you have any idea?
