Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Another petty charge, that needs answers.

Hmm.. Well I'll just start with, what the charge is. Me and my fience' were charged with theft over $50 but I know if nothing else we can get it dropped to theft under $50 I just don't know how. I interviewed 6 different lawyers and they all say they can give from 50%-78% certainty that they can, if nothing else, get me the lesser. I just don't have anything to offer as far as funds. We work 3 different jobs that take up all of our time and our bills leave us destitute, but the state needs last years income tax return to appoint me an attourney. I'm about to go to court on the 22nd for the 1st hearing and have absolutely no idea what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Plead not guilty, and ask for a public defender. Theft over $50 or $500?

Theft over $50.00 under $500.00 If you're referring to a court appointed attourney, we unfourtunately do not meet the standards to recieve one....at least as far as I know... I dont have my 2008 tax return and they need that document to give one, Right? I mean, do I somehow automatically qualify for a PD if I plead not guilty? And should I plea at ALL if I have yet to speak to an atty?
