Question.......Wanted to see if as part of the criminal process the accused is suppose to receive an Arraignment or formal information on the charges ?

I ask as almost four years after the alledge crime took place I was indicted but was nolonger a resident of the state nor had I been arrested. Upon learning of my indictment I returned to the state and turned myself in. My attorney at the time got vague information but at no time did I go before a judge to hear my charges or enter a plea. My attorney at the time negiotated my bond but that was it. Almost a year goes by and my next appearance is not an arraignment hearing but a calendar call for trial.

Were my rights violated ??????

If you were indicted by a grand jury, usually the next step is a trial.

(I am really not clear on why you think your rights were violated.)

I guess I feel my rights my have been violated as I have never gone before any court to hear the charges filed against me. I had to go to the internet to get the charges. Additionally, I would think I would be given the opportunity to enter a plea and the right to counsel, if I could not afford. I had thought the constitution set forth my right to know what I have been accused of. Also, wondering why my ex-husband was arraigned but I was not.
