Assault & Battery Arrest and pending charges

My friend has an assault IV on his record from more then 4 years ago. In 2007 he had a tampering with a witness over a text message received 25 days of work crew and a 5 year no contact order with the victim. Recently he violated the no contact order got pulled over in the with the victim and 4 probation violations. He received 30 days in jail and 20 days on work crew. He had 4 probation violations two of them were with the no contact order the other two were with his ex girlfriend, she stated that he chocked her and threatened her over text message. She has the text message. The text messsage was less then a month ago and the assault that she is claiming happened more then three months ago then she filed the report. Those were dropped. Can they still try to charge him for those? The probation officer told his mother that he has pending charges. There is nothing else that it could be. And officer came and talked to him a few day's ago about the report the ex filed. He does have a past domestic violence history with the mother of his children he has had many restraining orders. Please HELP!
