My son, 20,got a #S 18 SSA PURCH ALCOHOL BEVERAGE BY MINOR ticket. He was carrying a case of beer to the car in Penn. In negligence, he did not appear for the charges because he was in school and his car was broken. He also thought that the citation was for carrying alcohol, and thought it was a very minor charge. He did not call the court.
He did not purchase the alcohol. He carried it to the car. He had not been drinking. ( I am fully cognicent of his obvious plan to drink ). He was sent a letter and advised to pay a certain fine. He was not aware that he was pleading guilty to Purchasing alcohol. He thought it was for carrying alcohol. Now he has received a letter that his liscence will be suspended for 90 days. I can't believe that this procedure was within the law. (Not being aware of the meaning of the charge or the consequence of paying for the ticket and pleading guilty.)
What do you advise we do at this point. We have 27 days until his liscence is suspended.
