Hi there. Month or two back I 'touched' some broads car because she was driving like a retard (yes, I realize I clearly was too). Cop happened along and gave me a ticket for assured clear distance and no proof of insurance. The officer clearly stated to me the assured clear distance ticket was nothing but a $25 fine, which I paid online. I asked for a civil conference hearing for the no proof of insurance as I only had a binder but thought I was covered.

Anyways, somehow I thought the court date was this coming monday but was in fact last tuesday. Today I got a notice of default judgements entered for both, but the assured clear distance says I owe $160. Is there anything I can do at this point? :s

Any help is appreciated.

You can file a leave (motion) to appeal the default judgment. It will cost you a few hundred to a few thousand Dollars to do so.

Contact the court in question, or visit their website (if they have one). The website should describe how to appeal.

Or, Google "appeal traffic court decision in state XXXX".
