I recently got into some trouble with a friend of mine. we were driving through a near by apartment complex and decided to get out and check to see if there was anything we might want in any of these cars. A guy called the cops and said he saw us in his car. as we were leaving, police officers were waiting to detain us at the front. luckily we hadn't found anything worth taking so we didn't have any stolen property on us and denied claims of being in the truck. We just said we were out there walking around. They would find fingerprints on the truck and misplaced items but nothing was taken. I wound up being arrested and he went home since he was only 16. I am on 5 year probation and S.I.S. for stealing before. I was issued a citation for attempted stealing. After being arrested, I stayed the night in jail and was questioned in the morning. I didn't issue a statement and just denied all claims to the detectives and so did my friend. At this point would it be wise to get a lawyer or just speak to the judge and try to get the case thrown out on lack of evidence?
