Background check contained a surprise!

I recently underwent a pre-employment background check that discovered a supposedly unresolved bounced check from 1994. I contacted the county clerk (Travis County, Texas) to get details on the case. The records are accurate in that I DID write the check, and I DID pay the full amount of the check ($104.62) and associated fees, however they have no record of my attending the required "hot-check" class so a warrant was issued.
I attended the class, but cannot locate my certificate of completion or any other evidence that would prove my attendance. I've moved a few times since then and it's not exactly something I would frame and display! The administrators of the course keep records for only three years so there's no help there.
I no longer live in Travis County, but have been told that the only way to clear the warrant is to attend the course again (an 8 hour class, $70 cost, and a few hours of drive time) and show proof of completion.
Do I have any other options here?
Any insight to my plight would be greatly appreciated!

Hm, if all is like you say, I fear that is the only smart way to go about it: redo the class. You know how difficult it is to get a bureaucrazy (!) to admit that they did something wrong. Probably fighting this would cost you more time and money than just redoing this class. At least that is what I would advise you if you would be living in NYC. I doubt things are much better in other parts of the country :)
