Hey, I'm wondering what I can possibly do for, and expect from a speeding ticket i just received.

This is what happened. I was on my bike (2003 yamaha R1) heading down the highway just messin around. There were a few cars in my way so I decided to pass them. I sped up, passed them, then right around the next corner was a cop parked along side the road. I saw him and decided not to stop, i sped off and turned into a camping ground to hide the bike for a few hours. I parked the bike behind a tree and started to walk off. About a half hour passed, then the i saw a patrol car pull into the camping ground. He spotted the bike and then spotted me. He came up to me and asked if that bike belonged to me. I said "no" and he asked if I had seen who had put it there. I said "no" again and told him i was camping and pointed to some random rv. Anyways, I saw him walk back to the bike and decided that lying was a bad idea, so I turned around and walked back to him to confess. He told me to have a seat on the park bench and he'd be back once he finished writing the ticket. After about 15mins of waiting he approached me and said he wasn't taking me to jail. gave me a ticked for $560 and 6 points off my license.

now i'm wondering, I have mandatory court next month. what can I expect. do i have to worry about going to jail for eluding? or is that something I only had to worry about while he was writing the ticket. I know I will probably lose my license for up to 3 months. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

What state is this in, and what code section have you been cited for violating?

Wisconsin, and la crosse county. The adopting state statute is 346.57(5). But the ticket is just for speeding, I'm more worried about the officers case report. I'm afraid that I'll be convicted of eluding and ubstrucing an officer.

You cannot be convicted on a charge for which you are not charged. So, unless you get charged with some other offense prior to trial this is the only offense you need concern yourself with.

Okay, so to clarify. I don't have to worry about any other charges due to the officers case report? Meaning I can't be charged for anything I'm addition to the ticket I recieved the day this all happend.

I did not say that. What I am saying is that if they are going to charge you with any new crimes, they will have to do so before trial. If you have not been notified of any additional offenses, then they cannot charge you for them.

You might want to consult an attorney, but it might be to your benefit to plead guilty and pay the fine BEFORE the state has a chance to decide to file more serious offenses. That way you get the incident out of the way and suffer a penalty for speeding and not for any evasion charge. Now, your state might be different than mine in how it handles charges stemming from the same incident, so it might be in your best interest to seek a consultation with an attorney and run your options by him or her. But, out here, if you wanted to preempt possible pending charges, you would usually plead guilty to the currently charge and lesser offense.
