bad web reviews of my business

an employee of mine, hired 8 months ago, apparantly angered his girlfriends husband when they had an affair 1 1/2 years ago and she left her husband and moved in with him. at the employee's previous company the now x-husband posted reviews online of the business about the man/affair/divorce, etc, which in them he claims are true and provable. when my company hired him we did not read these bad reviews of his previous company online. they're still online on all review sites such as insiderpages, local, etc.. now the x-husband has found our company and posted the same bad reviews detailing their sordid affair events, on every major business review site available. this is embarrassing for our company and is possibly hurting our business. is it legal for him to have posted these reviews? what can we do? im not sure if this belongs here in this forum or not.
 
Speak with your corporate counsel about this matter. If you have no counsel or are unwilling to hire one, nothing can be done. Even with counsel, I'm not certain you have an action. If the louse you hired worked for me, I'd get rid of him. I could find a replacement that possessed character and experience to take his place. No doubt he will strike again!

I'm going to second the opinion already given - contact legal council. You may be able to go for a defamation of character case. My thinking is that even though it was a particular employee, that has nothing to do with the business itself. But this is something that you will need to fight out in court, and you really need to a lawyer involved.
