I live in Columbus, Georgia and have a friend and his wife that were recently arrested for possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of marijuana(misdemeanor). The so-called warrant was issued between 5:30 and 6:00 pm on a Friday. The task force arrived at the house in 3 different vehicles and approached the door as someone was leaving the house so they didn't have to kick the door. The warrant was issued for suspicion of having cocaine and marijuana so they said. I know that usually when the task force enters a house for drugs that usually there has been a setup or there are complaints from neighbors regarding traffic. Either way, the task force's job is to investigate and it seems like they would have known what the people would be in possession of if there was enough evidence to issue a search warrant. Another thing is that the warrant was a white sheet of paper and I may be wrong but I thought the warrants were either blue or yellow in color. The task force confiscated 2 pistols, a paint sprayer, a little over $5,000 in cash, some jewelry, 2 jumpstarter boxes, approx. 2 grams of meth, scales, a joint of marijuana, and a few other small things. After being bonded out of jail, the wife got a list of the confiscated items and they were listed as follows: a quantity of methamphetamine, a quantity of cash, etc..... These two things were the ones that stood out to me. It seems like an amount in weight would be listed for the meth and for the cash amount not to be listed seems really insane. If they were found to be not guilty, how would the police know how much to return(cash)? The last thing that makes me think that something isn't right is that a police report should be available to be picked up by the next morning. The police report was not ready the next morning, nor the next and presently, almost 2 months later, there is still no police report or any notification of charges they are being indicted on. There isn't even a court date. Does this seem funny to anyone else? We also have a local auction that police seized items are sold at and I would like to know what can be done to keep the items from being sold because a list was recently posted and there are a few items on the list that could possibly belong to my friends.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
