I have a lease until July 1st 2008, my landlord told me she wants to sell the property, it would be after my lease was up. Since then she has shown the house that I live in and that I pay 1500.00 a month once, the next week she sent over a surveyor, inspector and appraiser and when I ask if she sold the house she said no.
On March 26th her ex-husband came over to do repairs and I asked him if they had sold the house because his name is still on the house and he told me yes that they sold it and the closing date was April 10th he also told me he had told her she needed to let me know something, which she hasn't. Once again I asked her and she said no, but they were trying. She won't give me a straight answer. I told her that her ex had told me they had a closing date and she said he was a liar. My question, if they close on this house on the 10th, which will mean she no longer owns the house, can she transfer my lease to the new owner? She told me in the beginning if she sold it before my lease was up she would give the new owners my lease and my deposit and when my lease was up then they would handle my deposit. Can she do this and if I find a place and move will I be breaking the lease. Also, can she keep my deposit?
