Who are these people? I'm sure they are no different than anyone else. If you have income, they may pay off the entire debt and then they become the holder of your current debt at a lower interest rate. But don't kid yourself - these places aren't in the business of handing out free money and chances are all of them will need to see your ability to pay your debts or have assets to use as security. I don't know anything about them, whether they are better or worse than anyone else. A good easy place to start is to look them up on the Better Business Bureau site as well as doing searches on the Internet to find comments. Good luck.
