I had bought a very good puppy from a private person off craigslist.com. The owner had said he was vaccinated, and sent me the vacinations via text. After purchasing the dog, he had become sick with distemper. I took him to the vet, and the dog didnt show proof of registration or vaccinations. I was wondering, if possible, would I be able to sue the previous owner for all vet costs, and the price of the dog?

If you sue the owner for the price of the dog, I'm assuming that you intend to give the dog back to the prior owner and also want to be reimbursed for the costs of the costs you incurred. I would think you could sue, probably in small claims court. You'll need to know the prior owner's identity and if you're going to small claims court, you'll need to sue in the county in which the defendant is located. The case will come down to proof - yours against the prior owner's. As far as vet costs. I can't tell you the outcome, just the place where to sue. If you have any correspondence you'd best bring it and any proof that you may have of the prior owner's fraudulent misrepresentations regarding the dog. If the owner shows proof of vaccinations, it will be a difficult case and no longer an issue of potential fraud.
