Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft buzzer

I walked out of the store at the same time with a bunch of people and the detector went off. I didn't stop, went straight to my car and drove off but one of the employee already recorded my plate number. Would they be able to come after me? if so, how can I prepare for it? please help!!!
this was in Minnesota, the store does not have cameras

Yes if they file a Police report the Police will pay you a visit

thanks admin. what should I do at this point? should I go back to the store, return the item and apologize?

You can and they can accpet the items and let you go, ban you or, arrest you. Its a crap shoot. doing nothing can give you paranioa for next year as the statute of limitations on petty theft is around one year
