Sent my MiniDV camcorder in (from CA to NJ) to a Camera Repair facility under an extended warranty. Camera recorded and played fine but had an occasional problem with uncontrolled zooming.
Facility sent it back with notice that they had not serviced the unit because they could find nothing wrong with it.
However when I received it, upon testing, found that it recorded and played back with solid gray bands across the image making it essentially unusable.
Called Facility and described problem. They sent a mailing label and I sent the camera back. Now they want $125 (labor) to repair it. They claim that the warranty extends the mfg. warranty by 2 years. Since the JVC warranty for my camcorder was 1 yr. parts, 3 mos. labor, the labor part of the extended warranty expired in March. This is true. However, I did not send my camcorder in, in the condition (inoperable) that it was returned.
I believe they should be obligated to return it to it's prior state without charge. What (if any) are my legal recourses?
