I have a question. I was just wondering in the future that if I ever got pregnant again and had a boy if him and my daughter could share a room? my daughter is 4 years old. I have heard there is a law in Virginia that they cant share a room period or that they could but it had to be a certain age that they had a separate room. so I was wondering which was true for Virginia. cant really afford anywhere else. so is there actually a law about it. thank you.

There is a law in VA that says providers of respite care cannot allow children of the opposite sex to share a room once they are over the age of three. However, that law applies ONLY in respite care situations, which would not be the case in the situation you describe. Obviously there comes a point when it is inappropriate fora brother and sister to share a bedroom but the exact age at which that is the case is not codified.

In your case, it would be acceptable. I understand that sometimes people cannot afford to have separate rooms. Maybe you will have a girl or later will be able to afford separate rooms. Once siblings get a certain age & are of the opposite sex, of course, it's best that they not share the same room.
