Can a Collection Agency send a fax to your work?

I've been getting calls from a collection agency re a bill that I paid off two years ago. I told them that I paid it off and to stop calling my work but they won't. If I don't take there calls, they send a fax to my work addressed to my billing department for verification that I'm still employed. Can they do this?

yes they can contact your employer to see if you are employed. sounds like they are gearing up to sue you. send them a cease and desist letter. they will either sue you, or your account will go to another collection agency.
