I signed a contract to move into my present apartment, the Manager and Assistant had told me that before I moved in I had to sign the contract and they would then give me the keys after payment and signing.

I am Disabled and receive a check on the second Wednesday of each month.
I gave a letter from the Social Security Department to the Manager for proof of income, and explained to her that I only receive one check a month and it is on the second Wednesday of each month. She stated that after the 3rd, the payment would be late $45.00 on the 4th then 10.00 each day after, she would not make any adjustments toward my cercumstance, In the lease, there states a clause that the resident has the right to take the lease read it thouroughly and even take it to a lawyer before signing, I was not aware of this until I fully read my lease.

My question is? Is there any law regarding Disabilities or finding out how to change my date on my lease that pertains to my case.

Please help!!
Thank you!!

It is unlikely that when you get your check from Social Security plays a role in any of this. It would be assumed that you would plan your budget to have the money from the previous months disability check ready by the first of each month, just as someone who receives a paycheck in the middle of the previous month would need to do.

However, depending on your state, there may be limitations on how much management is allowed for late fees and whether charging your $10 each day after the fourth is legal in your state.
