can dealer cancelled new car sale

I traded my car with a ticking sound for a new car. I had an appointment for it to be checked out this week. The dealer is asking me to bring back the new car because my trade in had major engine trouble. Can they do this? I have already changed insurance and everything else

Read your contract. It likely contains clauses which allow for the contract to be cancelled.
If you can't find anything then ask the dealer to explain the justification for canceling the sale.
