In the State of Idaho.
Citation: Dispensing alcohol to a minor.
Citing Idaho state law 23-603

Background:
2 children age 17 and 18 were charged with minor in possession and DUI. ( No one was injured, No damage to property)

The person that allegedly supplied the alcohol, is being charged with: Dispensing alcohol to a minor. If found guilty, it looks like between $500-1000 fine, but, can that person be sued by the parents in civil court for any reason?

Is there a limit of the civil damages, ie fines, court fees, legal fees, punitive, alcohol counseling.

Thank You.

yes he can be sued in civil court, its not likely but it can happen. Most civil cases are based on damages, so if no property, mental, or health damages are involved it unlikely. Punitive damages are normally reserved for corporations and big business whom wronged some one. It is important to note you can argue anything in US court.

Since there were no damages, there is nothing to sue for. Here, a person is liable and we have several cases where parents served alcohol at a high school graduation party and there was a wreck.
